Beard Shampoo and Conditioner Sets: Highly Recommend for an Epic Beard
I learned all the fundamentals of growing a great beard from my father. You see, I am my father’s son. This has become even more apparent as I have gotten older. I am a carpenter just like him and a damn good one. I have a meticulous beard just like him and it’s a damn good one. I suppose growing a beard comes with the territory. Even the most famous carpenter from Galilee had one. It never occurred to me that there is an art to growing facial hair; I simply followed my father’s footsteps. I have had a beard ever since I could grow one.
I consider myself the Version 2.0 of the old man. I am faster and I come with newer features installed but I still look at the older version with nostalgia and respect. I suppose the same applies to my beard grooming habits. They are essentially the same as my fathers have always been but with a few tweaks and new additions to go with the times.
Beards are back in style, and as a veteran, I get asked a lot about how I can grow the impeccable mane that distinctly occupies my face. It’s all about grooming. Something as simple as using a beard conditioner can make all the difference between a good beard and a great one.
Beard Grooming is Important
I would be lying to you if I told you that you have to shampoo and use beard conditioner every single morning. I only do it as a matter of necessity. Being a carpenter is half making amazing furniture and fittings and the other half getting covered in sawdust and debris. A quick shower when I get home just won’t cut it. I have to take extra precaution to make sure that my beard is immaculate every time I walk out of the door. This means washing my beard with shampoo and conditioner every single morning.
I have many friends with equally awesome beards who get away with washing and conditioning every other day or two. It all depends on the environment you work in. If you work from home or at an office job it’s probably not necessary to use shampoo and conditioner every day. Simply find what works for you.
One recurring theme that I notice every time I mention beard shampoo and conditioner (it’s impossible to mention one without the other) is time. Most guys apparently don’t have the time to wash and groom their beards properly. I ask the same question each and every time I am faced with this excuse because really “What the hell do you do for 24 hours in a day?” I am sure it’s possible to spare 20 minutes out of a 24 hour day to do something that will make you look better.
Apart from being condescending, my next best pastime is to offer practical advice. You do have the time to shampoo and condition your beard. You only need to make a part of your daily routine.
What I am trying to say is that a vigorous and consistent morning routine helps to keep my day together. I know what I must do every day from the moment I get up. I wake up at the same time each morning, make my bed, meditate and hit the shower. I make sure that I wash my beard with the best beard conditioner every single morning without fail. Once I complete my morning routine everything else seems to fall into place. I can schedule client jobs, prioritize, meet with prospective clients and basically do everything that I planned for the day without much effort.
If you think you don’t have time to take good care of your beard and to grow the beard that you know you deserve; all you need to do is to make it a part of your morning routine. It only takes 20 minutes, actually not even that.
Why do I go through all this trouble?
It’s no trouble to me at all. I would go as far as to say that a perfectly groomed beard is a part of my heritage. If I had a gun to my head and had to come up with a few reasons why I go to the trouble of washing my beard and using shampoo and beard conditioner every day, here is what I would come up with;
- You think you have an awesome beard until someone with an awesome beards stands behind you in line at Starbucks. I can’t count the number of times I have seen men who otherwise thought they had great beards get self-couscous as soon as I walk into the room.
- You look more attractive. Many women will admit that they love a man with a beard. To them, a beard represents aggression, dominance, masculinity, toughness and maturity. What most women forget to add is that they specifically like a well-groomed beard. If you are single and looking for a long-term partner or simply want to get laid I would suggest that you grow a good beard. It’s worth mentioning that I am yet to meet a woman whose childhood dream was to marry a hobo. The keyword here is growing a good (read groomed) beard.
- It may sound counter-intuitive but a full and evenly grown beard can actually make you look younger. This wasn’t true for me 20 years ago but now I look a lot younger than many of my age mates even with my mane. I have fewer wrinkles, practically no sagging skin, and no age spots. Studies suggest that a fully grown beard can block up to 95 percent of harmful UV rays which I suppose makes sense.
My Recommendation for a Good Beard Conditioner
Here is where it gets tricky. Shampoos and conditioners are relatively new to the market or just getting socially accepted so it is easy to fall into fads. I don’t like what’s trending. In fact, I started using beard shampoo and conditioner just to see if it would make any difference. I already had a great beard but I thought I could make it a little better. I am a little more open-minded than my old man so I thought why not.
I have tried a good number of products with varying degrees of success. The one that has stuck with me is the Zeus Sandalwood Beard Shampoo and Conditioner Set.
I will admit that I first ordered this product for superficial reasons. Remember that I work with wood all day every day so I know a thing or two or sandalwood. It’s a great wood to work with and I absolutely love the smell of it. I also know that it has been used in traditional Chinese Medicine for hundreds of years so if ever there was a grooming product that I could approve even before using it; this would be the one. Also it’s a beard product named Zeus and that part is self-explanatory.
I am also a practical man. It’s a shampoo and conditioner set. That means I don’t have to buy shampoo and then conditioner. It’s just cheaper and more convenient to get both in one package.
Long story short I used this beard shampoo and conditioner and have never bothered to look for anything else. Being the practical man that I am I tried to figure out what it is about this shampoo and beard conditioner that works so well. The secret is all in the ingredients.
What Makes a Good Beard Shampoo and/or Conditioner?
It is all about what’s in it. I didn’t just go with what is on the packaging but instead took the time and effort to do my own research and here is what I came up with.
The Shampoo Contains;
Dragons Blood: this is an extract derived from the Sangre de Grado tree (which literally translates to “blood of the dragon.”) and has been used for hundreds of years as varnish, medicine, and dye. One of my biggest concerns about washing my beard daily with shampoo and conditioner was washing out all the good, natural and essential oils. The best part about the dragon’s blood is it is just strong enough to properly cleanse my beard but mild enough to use daily.
A major difference that I have noticed since I started using this shampoo compared to my au naturel days is my beard is never itchy. I also no longer have to deal with beardruff and flaky skin which was frustrating, to say the least. As a bonus, my beard is softer than ever which is great news for my cuddle buddy.
Green Tea Extract: this ingredient has also been used for hundreds of years and has many benefits for great facial hair. My beard now grows a lot faster. I found out that green tea actually stimulates hair follicles and increases metabolism which is basically steroids for my beard.
It also turns out that green tea is rich in Panthenol which is a well known antioxidant. The results are a fuller, stronger and healthier beard.
The conditioner contains;
Avocado Oil: This is rich in proteins and amino acids. I now enjoy a well nourished and healthy looking beard. The product has also helped with skin inflammation especially on the extremely hot days. As it turns out, avocado oil is good for balancing your skins P.H. I know it sounds good on paper but in practical terms lets just say dry skin is the least of my worries.
Pro-Vitamin B5: I quickly noticed less hair on my beard comb (I suggest a good quality sandalwood beard comb) when I started using this beard shampoo and conditioner combo. It makes sense since Pro-Vitamin B5 helps to strengthen hair follicles. Other benefits I have read about include reduced itchiness and hydrated skin. These are all benefits that I can attest to and not just abstract concepts I have read about.
I highly recommend that you get the Zeus Sandalwood Beard Shampoo and Conditioner Set if you want to take your beard growth and grooming to the next level. I have done the research as I do with everything that I put on or into my body. The most important thing for me is that the results speak for themselves. If for no other reason; I got my dad to start using it. The student becomes the teacher.
